Explosive Offense Powers Blue Sox to an Eight Run Victory

The Utica Blue Sox bats were definitely alive in their 13-5 win over the Onondaga Flames Saturday night.

The Blue Sox out hit the Flames 10-to-8 and were able to put up a four-spot to take the lead early in the bottom of the second and a seven-spot in the bottom of the eighth to put the icing on the cake.

Blue Sox’s Short Stop Adam LaRock was the key factor to Utica’s offensive success.  LaRock went two for four with two doubles, four RBI’s, and a stolen base.  He also made a few key plays at the short stop position, assisting eight putouts.  Center Fielder Taylor Olmstead also helped the cause with a double and a triple accounting for four RBI’s as well.

Jake Binder got hooked with the loss for the Flames going three and a thirds innings pitched allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks.

On the other hand, Utica reliever Dylan Leahy came in in the 5th inning and went on to pitch four and a third innings allowing only two runs on two base hits, and a three walks, thus giving him the win.

With the loss, Onondaga falls to 1-2 on the season.  They will remain on the road and travel to Geneva on Sunday to take on the Red Wings at 4:00PM.

With the win, Utica improves to 2-0 on the season.  They hit the road again on Sunday as they travel to Adirondack for a second meeting with the Trail Blazers over the span of just three days.  First pitch is at 3:05 p.m.
