Pioneers Send RailRiders Off The Tracks Thanks To Solo Shots By Patnick And Plantier

The Pioneers would look to regroup from yesterday’s loss to Utica as they faced off against another division rival today, the Victor RailRiders, at Victor, NY.

Elmira got it going from the very first at bat as Troy Dixon (Samford) led off with a ground rule double. After Storm Wilson (Kentucky) reached on an error to bring in Dixon, Kyle Ruth (LIU Brooklyn) singled in Wilson.

The RailRiders tacked on a run in the first and the fifth to tie it up at two. However, the Pioneers would pull away from Victor for good in the top of the sixth.

Jason Patnick (Manhattan) led off the sixth with a solo shot to right field. An RBI single by Tyler Plantier (UC San Diego) and Brian Kelly’s (Siena) RBI fielder’s choice to bring the score 5-2.

The Pioneers would then tack on a run in the seventh and the eighth from Josh Cosgrove’s (Onondaga C.C.) RBI single and a solo shot from Plantier.

Victor would put another run on in the bottom of the eight however the Pioneers will bring in three runs in the top of the ninth from an RBI double from Patnick, an RBI single from Zeke Lewis (Ketucky) and a sacrifice fly from Joe Preziuso (Canisius).
