Brewers use strong pitching late in game to spoil Stallions Inaugural Game

Saugerties, N.Y. - The Saugerties Stallions took on the Utica Brewers on a cold June night only to lose their home opener 9-6. Strong pitching and timely hitting were the key for the Brewer's attack as they were in control most of the game.

The top of the first inning started off with strong pitching from Stallion's righty, Phil Zdanowski (St. Rose) as he struck out the first two batters of the game. He settled in for the first 2 1/2 innings as he kept the brewers scoreless. In the top of the third inning Utica's first basemen, Dominic Brego sent a two run single into the outfield for the first runs of the game.

Once the top of the third inning started the Brewers pounded out four more hits and scored an additional three runs to take an early 5-0 lead over the Stallions.

After plating two runs in the 4th inning the Stallions found their bats in the 5th inning as two runners reached base only to take a jog in after a long home run to right field by Stallion's shortstop, Pat Dorian (Herkimer CC).

Utica's Dominic Brego led the attack for the Brewers going 2-for-5) with two RBIs.

The Stallions return home tomorrow night to face the Newark Pilots at 6:35 P.M. at Cantine Veteran's Memorial Complex.
