NEWARK, N.Y. – Three players from the University of San Francisco have been inked by the Newark Pilots of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) for the 2015 season.

Second baseman Michael Eaton headlines the trio from the Division I Dons, which also includes outfielders Kyle Norman and Blake Valley.

Eaton, a redshirt junior, started 34 of his 44 appearances in 2014 and is expected man second base full-time this season. He batted .233 with nine doubles, 15 RBIs and 13 runs scored. He also walked 17 times and was third on the team with a .357 on-base percentage. Defensively, Eaton sported a .981 fielding percentage. Over the summer, the product of Albuquerque, N.M., earned Golden State Collegiate Baseball League All-Star honors with the Healdsburg Prune Packers. He led the team with a .347 batting average, homered thrice, scored 36 runs and drove in 26 more.

Norman is entering his freshman season at USF. The 5-9 outfielder from Ellicott City, Md., spent 2014 enrolled in IMG Academy’s post-high school graduate program in Bradenton, Fla. With the Ascenders, he batted .296 with a .349 on-base percentage and was named the team's MVP. Norman played his high school baseball at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Olney, Md. The two-time All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference honoree hit .402 with a home run, 21 RBIs and 16 stolen bases as a senior, and .388 with 17 RBIs and 10 stolen bases as a junior.

Valley, a 5-11 redshirt sophomore, was used primarily as a pinch runner in 2014. The catcher-turned-outfielder scored three runs with a stolen base for the Dons. He then played for the Kitsap BlueJackets in the West Coast League over the summer, batting .257 in 70 at bats. A graduate of Peninsula High School in his hometown of Gig Harbor, Wash., Valley was a Rawlings/Perfect Game Preseason West Region honorable mention and an All-South Puget Sound League 3A First-Team selection as a senior. That year, he hit at a .472 clip with 25 runs, 19 RBIs and 11 stolen bases.
The Newark Pilots return to Colburn Park for their 2015 home opener on Friday, June 5 against Mohawk Valley. For more information and to purchase season tickets, contact Pilots president Leslie Ohmann at
