Rams fall to Albany, 3-1

WATERTOWN, NY- The Albany Dutchmen (18-19) used runs in three separate innings to defeat the host Watertown Rams (21-16), 3-1. With the Newark loss to Elmira, the Rams stay tied for first place in the West Division. Drew Tolson (Baylor) picked up the win for the Dutchmen while Zander Clouse (Bellevue) took the loss for the Rams.
 
Watertown scored its only run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Santino Alteri (Alvernia) hit a one-out triple to right center field and came around to score on a Nick Moore (Missouri) RBI single to right field.
 
Albany tied the game at one in the top of the fifth as Justin Brock (Franklin Pierce) walked, stole second, advanced to third on a passed ball, and came around to score on a Danny Hrbek (Radford) RBI double down the right field line.
 
Adam Lee (Lipscomb) doubled to lead off the sixth inning and scored on a Sean Aspinall (Azusa Pacific) RBI single to right. The final run of the game scored in the top of the eighth inning as Lee scored on a throwing error from Nick Moore.
 
Tolson went seven innings and only allowed the one run while striking out seven batters. The Baylor product is now 3-2 on the season. Kyle Zurak (Radford) tossed a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his sixth save of the season. Watertown starter Zander Clouse was solid in the loss. The right-hander allowed the three runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out six. He is now 2-2 on the year.
 
Nick Moore and Ben Wylly (San Diego) each went 3-for-4 on the night to lead the Rams. Aspinall was the lone Dutchmen player to tally multiple hits, going 2-for-3.
 
The Rams are off on Monday before returning to action on Tuesday with a home game against the Newark Pilots. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Albany plays host to the Utica Brewers on Monday night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
