Elmira, NY- The Elmira Pioneers, proud members of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, are pleased to announce the addition of two new members for the upcoming 2014 season. The addition of these two people will make the already great time spent attending a game at Historic Dunn Field even better for the upcoming summer. Chris P. Bacon and Doug Page will team up to enhance the fan experience for all home games at Dunn Field adding to an already fun filled summer of baseball and family fun.
Bacon or more commonly known by radio listeners and sports fans across the Twin Tiers as “Crispy Bacon” will be joining the Pioneers as the in-crowd PA announcer and Director of fan entertainment. While not roaming the stands at Dunn Field, fans can hear Bacon on their radio dial by listening to 100.9 FM THE WOLF.
"It is with great excitement that I join the Elmira Pioneers staff in 2014. Pioneers baseball has a rich history in Elmira and I can remember going to Dunn Field back in the mid 70's (my early teen years) to enjoy Pioneers games and the atmosphere that came along with it. I hope I can add to the fan experience of attending a game at the ballpark this summer."
Page will be re-joining the Pioneers after spending the 2013 season with the Pittsburgh Pirates Short Season Class-A Affiliate Jamestown. Page will be the “voice” of the Pioneers handling the stadium PA announcer duties along with managing the Press Box for all home games at Dunn Field. Page will also bring fans live play-by-play action of all 2014 Pioneers road games with audio and video streaming via internet. This will be Doug’s second stint with the Pioneers after handling the same duties during the 2012 season.
“The 2014 Elmira Pioneers season is going to be great with plenty of exciting events planned for fans that come out to Dunn Field and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the staff this upcoming summer. The Pioneers have been part of a rich history as part of the Twin Tiers and there’s nothing better than continuing that tradition after an exciting finish last season. I hope that I can bring in some new ideas that I learned last year with the Jammers and add to the overall excitement at the ballpark this season.”
