More Signings for the Pioneers

The Pios signed three players from VCU, Zac Bellinger, Landon Prentiss and Heath Dwyer.

"Zac Bellinger will be one of our returning players and a very good one at that. He will fill in at 1st, DH and catcher. We are very glad to have him back, stated Manager, Dan Shwam."

Landon Prentiss, a 6' 00" 180 lb. infielder in his sophomore year at VCU.

In his freshman year, he drew 29 starts in 33 appearances for VCU and scored 13 runs and drove in 9 RBI. He also swiped one stolen base on two attempts and collected a .933 fielding percentage on 40 putouts and 85 assists.

Landon graduated from nearby Henrico High School in Richmond, Va. He helped lead his team to the Capital District Championship during both his freshman and senior seasons and was named First Team All-District shortstop, Second Team All-Metro and Honorable Mention All-Central Region following his senior campaign. Landon was also the Warriors team captain during his final two years at Henrico H.S., and was also named Team MVP after both seasons.

"Landon should be one of our middle infielders, very good defensive shortstop, has good speed and plays the little ball game very well. He hits, runs, and will get a stolen base when needed. We are looking for big things from him, Stated Manager, Dan Shwam."

Heath Dwyer, 6' 00" 200 lb. left handed pitcher in his freshman year at VCU.

He is in his first season at VCU, but is already having success in his first year of college ball. Heath is a versatile left-handed pitcher, possesses a good feel for his fastball, change -up and curveball and adds depth to both the bullpen and starting rotation.

Heath played baseball for four seasons at Corona Del Sol High School in Chandler, Arizona and posted a 3-1 record in 2011.

"He will be very effective against left handed hitters, we look for heath to be very important out of the bull pen, stated Manager, Dan Shwam."
